About

Our founder is 5 foot 3. He has never once bought the right size off the rack.

Which is a silly reason to buy a software company, and it is still the honest one.

Clean Size Charts was not our idea. Our friends at Clean Canvas built it and launched it on the Shopify App Store in January 2020. The listing URL still carries their name, which we have never seen a reason to change.

We bought it from them a few years later, on Valentine’s Day. Zachary, who runs TaskHusky, had spent his whole adult life ordering two sizes of everything and sending one back. A size chart app was not a market he had researched. It was a problem he had lived with since he was old enough to buy his own clothes.

That is most of what you need to know about how the app gets built. When we argue about a feature, the tiebreaker is usually whether it would have helped a short man in a fitting room, or just looked good in a feature comparison.

How we decide what to build

Four rules. They are the reason this app is smaller than its competitors.

We build the first charts for you

Every plan, including Free, comes with setup done for you. Handing someone an empty builder and calling it onboarding has never once helped a merchant. If you are switching from another app, we move your existing charts across at no cost.

We would rather say no than overstate

The AI recommender asks about height, weight, age, fit, and gender. That works for apparel and it does not work for shoes, so we say so on the page instead of letting you find out after you have paid.

Evidence beats assertion

Fit Notes are written from your reviews, not by our copywriters. Analytics reports conversion lift against shoppers who never saw a chart. If a number cannot be traced back to something real, it does not belong on your dashboard.

The people who build it answer the support

Zachary replies to reviews and support requests himself. It is not a scalable strategy and that is rather the point: it keeps the person making the decisions in contact with the people living with them.

What is coming next.

Not a roadmap with dates on it. Just what we are actually working on.

Category-specific recommender questions

Foot length for shoes, bust and hip for swim. The recommender asks the same five questions everywhere today, which is why footwear gets a conversion chart rather than a recommendation.

Fewer features, better

There is no plan to become a suite. The list above is short deliberately, and it will stay short.

Clean Size Charts is built and supported by TaskHusky, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. If you want something on that list sooner, saying so is the most effective thing you can do about it.
